Take it from an expert…bright, neon colors and clean faces are the must-have looks for this season. While anyone can pull off bold nail shades with the right manicure, color on the face can be tricky. The key is to be less Fresh Prince than fresh-faced, according to Jennifer Miles, senior buyer for beauty and fragrance at New York’s tonied department store, Henri Bendel. “There’s a really specific look that’s hot right now. What we’re seeing a lot is bolder lip with the brighter pops of color, the cleaner eye with just black or navy eyeliner and a really sheer wash of blush,” Miles says. “The blush isn’t where you would usually have it — you usually see it on the apples of the cheek. Now it’s higher up on the cheekbone.”
But off the runway, what does Miles throw into her makeup bag for her summer getaway? Her three essentials: a great sunscreen (Miles recommends the Cane and Austin Ultra Sheer Weightless Sunscreen); bronzer, or some other “glow-y, shimmery product”; and waterproof mascara. And if coverage is of major concern to you, spring for tinted moisturizer rather than concealer: “You don’t want something melting on your skin.”
