Changing Foundation

Summer is sadly over, but Fall brings cool changes to the weather. The summer heat can sometimes limit your makeup routine. Fall offers new opportunities for bolder looks and longer wear. Changing your foundation from summer to fall is a must to ensure your skin looks radiant, healthy and ready to tackle the day.

1. Toss out your old foundation: It’s important to check the dates for expiration on foundation. As foundation ages it begins to thin and will end up producing an uneven or streaky application. This can lead to skin irritation and breakouts. Make sure to check the shelf life of all of your beauty products.

2. Decide on how much coverage you want: Most people use tinted moisturizers in the summer due to the extreme heat. Heavier foundations are great to wear during cooler months to smooth out skin and cover flaws. We suggest trying BB Creams. BB Creams are great during fall months since their lightweight but provide full coverage.

3. Try before you buy: It’s always best to try on a potential new foundation before you purchase it. You’ll want to see the longevity of wear, the color match and how it settles throughout the day. We recommend stopping by your local beauty counter and getting a sample first.

4. Consider mineral foundation: Fall is a great time to consider using mineral foundation. During weather changing months, skin can react with breakouts. Mineral foundation doesn’t clog pores as much as liquid and is helpful when it comes to matching your complexion. You may have a leftover suntan and it’s easier to get away with a shade lighter/darker in mineral powder.
