As a child Ellis Faas plastered her walls with Vogue magazine editorials. Some years later she is cited as “one of the most influential make-up artists of her time” by Vogue Paris. After we discovered her fabulous Ellis Lips in our Pure Luxury box we were dying to know more about the women behind the brand.
Ellis Faas grew up in the Netherlands and it seemed as though fashion was always on her radar. Ever since she was a child she loved playing with makeup; using family members and friends as her test subjects. As her passion grew she began making her own clothes as a way to express her personal style. She eventually found an interest in photography where she focused on fashion and beauty trends. After fulfilling her professional goals as a photographer she decided to pursue her dream as a makeup specialist, training in makeup and special effects at Christian Chauveau’s Technical School of Artistic Makeup.
Her rise to fame came after she opened her own portrait studio, Face Value. Face Value became extremely successful becoming the first ever “makeover studio”. Ellis’ success has opened many doors and gave her the opportunity to work with top fashion editor, Emmanuelle Alt, who introduced her to Karl Lagerfeld. She then went on to work in major fashion campaigns and shows such as Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Louis Vuitton. Her work has been covered in numerous fashion magazines. The word spread that Ellis Faas started her own makeup line and she has been equally successful with this endeavor as she has with everything else in her life. The word was out and her products became loved by many celebs including Cate Blanchette, Mary J Blige, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
One of the things that Ellis Faas is most proud of, is that all her products are “cruelty free”. All finished products and ingredients themselves are not tested on animals. Instead, they are known to be only tested on supermodels! The Ellis Faas not only prides themselves on their production but her pen products sales are directed to benefit her charity of choice, War Child. War Child tries to promote a healthy lifestyle for young children whom are living in an unsafe environment. Additionally, the Ellie Faas brand recycles used pens by partnering with visual artists to produce works of art. These works are then auctioned off to aid War Child.
Her bright, long lasting colors has made her a favorite here at GLOSSYBOX and we look forward in seeing more of Ellis Faas in the future.
