Georgette Klinger’s 1915 beauty pageant victory was marred by a problem with her prize – the beauty products she received irritated her skin. Instead of wallowing in self-pity or resigning to a life of irritated skin, Klinger set off on a mission to offer women an alternative. In 1938, she opened her first salon in her native country of Czechoslovakia, filled with knowledge she gained working with cosmeticians and dermatologists from Zurich, Budapest and Vienna.
A year later, the Nazi regime invaded her beloved country and Klinger, only 22 years old, fled to New York City. Making products in her own kitchen, Klinger opened a spa on Madison Avenue. In 1969, Klinger brought the iconic New York experience to California and opened a second salon in Beverly Hills, meant to cater to her already growing clientele of Hollywood starlets.
Always dedicated to the brand’s roots of filling holes in the beauty industry, Klinger launched a revolutionary men’s skin care line in 1972. A continual grow in demand led Klinger to launch multiple salons, as well as, develop a laboratory and factory.
Although the founding matriarch passed away in 2004, her namesake brand never strayed from the simple belief that clean, healthy skin is the beating heart of a glowing complexion.
