Hey GLOSSIES, did you know that fragrance is  actually a beauty category? Because of the science behind the scent notes, scent combinations, and even the chemistry your body has with the perfume, picking a particular go-to perfume can be more daunting than one expects. But let’s dabble a bit in that body chemistry with one of the latest trends on the beauty scene: layering.  Here’s some effective tips for having your perfect signature scent, featuring fragrance mavericks Viktor&Rolf and their coveted FLOWERBOMB perfume!

Keep Your Scents Together

Got two roller-ball scents? The first tip is to keep your fragrances together. Roll on (or spray) your first perfume, and then add the second scent before it dries. Press your wrists together and rub gently.

Hone it Down to Two Scents

Bring your mixing down to two fragrances, and perform a small test on something that isn't your skin! We definitely don’t recommend trying out a new combo before date night, so always give any new combinations a test drive.

Layering Doesn’t Have To Be Just Perfume

Layering scents doesn’t necessarily mean spraying two perfumes directly on top —it can start as early as when you apply a scented lotion after your shower. Or, you can spray one scent on your wrists and another on your neck. Play around! And don’t be afraid to experiment! As a general rule of thumb, heavier scents should be sprayed first, so they don’t overpower their lighter counterparts.

Scents to Avoid

Definitely avoid combining two scents that are too dark and heady—they can be overwhelming when used together.
